1 suitcase of clothes,
2 bags of books
and a one-way ticket to Los Angeles…
That is how my chapter of becoming a high-performance coach begins.
Let’s rewind a little now in order for you to understand what led me to this point…
When my mother was young
she was told that she would never be able to have kids, but – here I am!
When I was 5 years old,
my aunt stole every penny I had saved up in my piggy bank while I was sleeping.
I never saw that piggy bank again... or her.
When I was 12 years old,
I got nominated to play in my first international basketball tournament representing Germany.
That same day, the police showed up at my house to arrest my uncle for drug use.
When I was 14 years old,
I was nominated for the U16 German women’s basketball team in Japan.
While I was gone, my first boyfriend cheated on me.
When I was 16 years old,
my coach told me I needed to lose weight if I wanted to compete at the highest level.
One month later, I ate 3 apples a day and developed anorexia.
When I was 20,
I was the captain of a championship professional basketball team.
I was also secretly battling bulimia.
When I was 21,
I was about to build a house with the man I intended to marry.
I am now in love with a woman.
When I was 24,
I tore every ligament in my knee during a pre-season practice.
I returned to the court 5 months later and led my team to the playoffs.
When I was 25,
I lost my job as a pro player because my club went bankrupt.
One month later, I founded The Deutsche Basketball Akademie,
a project dedicated to developing youth basketball all over Germany.
I am deeply grateful for every single success and every single challenge in my life.
I believe that I am all that I am because of all that I was.
With that beings said, I have decided to leave the town I grew up in,
leave my playing days behind me
and embark on this NEXT CHAPTER of my life across the globe.
THIS CHAPTER is all about helping people like YOU.
